My Jeep Grand Cherokee's brakes feel soft and I don't feel safe driving it
I need to ask for some advice because this is starting to really scare me and I'm not sure what to do. I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2018 that I use every day to drive my kids to school and to get to work. For the past week or so, I've noticed that the brake pedal feels different than it used to. It feels softer, like I have to push it down much further than before before the car actually starts slowing down. The car still stops eventually but it doesn't feel as responsive or as sharp as it used to, and honestly I don't feel safe driving my family around in a car that doesn't stop the way it should. I checked the brake fluid level and it looked fine to me, but I don't really know what else to look for. I took it to a quick service place near my house and the guy there said I probably need new brake pads and maybe the rotors need to be resurfaced, but he quoted me 1,500 dirhams and said he could do it the same day. Something about his rushed attitude made me uncomfortable though, like he was just trying to get me to say yes quickly without really diagnosing the problem properly. I decided to wait and do some research first. I found https://800sayara.com/jeep-repair-abu-dhabi/ while searching for Jeep specialists and I'm thinking I should take it to someone who knows Grand Cherokees specifically. Has anyone else experienced soft or spongy brakes on their Jeep? What was the actual cause and how much did it cost you to fix? Could it be something as serious as a failing brake master cylinder or is it probably just worn pads like the quick service guy said? And most importantly, is it safe to drive the car at all right now, even just to take it to a mechanic, or should I have it towed? I really don't want to risk an accident but I also don't want to overreact. Please give me honest advice because I need to get this fixed as soon as possible but I want it done right, not fast and cheap.
